The Bladedancer Is Not a Bard With a Sword

People see the name and reach for the wrong shelf. Performance. Support. A dancer who happens to fight. 5E trained that reflex: if it is pretty, it must be a buffer.

The ACKS bladedancer is a cult with footwork.

This is a fighting cleric of motion and vow, not a lute with hit points. The job is the front rank and the rite at once. You are in the door because the blade is worship, and the worship is not a speech you give after the fight. When the gold accumulates, the same ladder waits: followers, a holding, a claim on how people live. Not a tavern tour. A temple that knows what steel is for.

That is the ACKS pattern again. The “weird” classes are not side grades for players who got bored of fighter. They are other civilizations wearing a character sheet. If your campaign is only taverns and holes, the bladedancer looks like extra rules. If your campaign is allowed to become a realm, she looks like a reason a border town has festivals that make neighboring lords nervous.

I do not need every party to include one.

I need the book to keep offering jobs beyond the four marketing silhouettes. The crate had room for a holy killer who dances. That is a more serious fantasy than another subclass that adds a bonus to an ally’s next roll.
